On April 24, 2021 at 4:43 AM, the newest member of The Chapter House came into the world! This month, we officially welcomed Aza Piñon Robbins to the TCH community! Aza (AKA Piñon) was born to TCH founder and executive director Emma Robbins. We sent all our love and congratulations to parents Emma and (big) Aza, as well as Piñon’s extended family.

We got together to watch the films from our exhibition “but when you come from water”. To follow, TCH Board Secretary hosted a Q&A with 3 of the filmmakers to discuss their brilliant works. If you missed the event, be sure to keep an eye out for a recording of the Q&A portion on our website!

Our Instagram was taken over by Diné artist Crystal Dugi this month! We got to experience a day in the life of one of the incredible artists from our exhibition as she shared why painting and art are important to her.

If you missed it, see it in our IG highlights here.

With all the amazing written works in our exhibition, we knew we had to hold a poetry night. Hosted by Tyler Mitchell and featuring readers from both the exhibition and an open call, “but when you come from water” Poetry Night was a supportive, relaxed affair.

Today is the last day to experience our first online exhibition “but when you come from water”! Whether you’ve viewed it a thousand times or you’ve never seen it before, be sure to check it out before it’s too late.

See it now!

An arts and crafts night!

S.A. Lawrence-Welch teaching us how to finger weave at our first Community Arts Night.

Another arts and crafts hour is coming! In our last session, you all brought your own projects and we talked about culture, community and the intersectional issues that affect folks here in the United States and Canada. Keep your eyes peeled for that in the next few weeks!

Opening a physical space!

We're still working towards our goal of opening a brick and mortar this fall. We need $50,000 in donations to set up shop and keep the lights on for a full year. Every donation gets us a step closer to our goal.

If you'd can, make a tax-exempt donation today!
