My mother was born in a desert, in a war, in a snowstorm. Throughout her life, the ways of water and land guided her spiritual and artistic vision. She was born on a continental divide separating two regions - one dry, one drier – and this birthplace between two domains was the symbol of the in-between life into which she was born.
