Indigenous Drag Show
Each year, The Chapter House organizes and hosts an Indigenous Drag Show in November in celebration of Native American Heritage Month. This annual tradition began with The Chapter House x Hollywood in 2022 and in partnership with the talent agency WME.
Last year, the inimitable Lady Shug and Landa Lakes hosted the LaLa Land Back Tour Drag Show at The Chapter House’s newly opened space in Echo Park. The night featured drag performances by Lady Shug, Landa Lakes, and Bohenne Arreaux and a comedy set by Brian Bahe. Wines were donated by Native-owned wineries Coronado Vineyards and Twisted Cedar and poured by TCH favorite Jazmine Ladouceur of NOIRE. Community members volunteered before, during, and after the event to make it a night to remember.
The following morning, we partnered with Drag Story Hour to produce the LaLa Land Back Tour Drag Story Hour, a kid-friendly event for all ages. Lady Shug, Landa Lakes, and Lil Miss Hot Mess read picture books to the children in attendance. The children and their parents went home with copies of the books generously donated by Penguin Random House.
