The Next Chapter Comedy Benefit

The Next Chapter Comedy Benefit is a stand-up show celebrating The Chapter House and all of the good work they do to provide a home for Indigenous joy and creativity in Los Angeles. Hosted by Blake Pickens and featuring stand-up performances by Dash Turner, Monique Moreau, Jim Ruel, and Josh Pim, this is a night of Indigenous comedy you cannot miss.

All ticket proceeds and donations at the event will benefit The Chapter House and continuing to further our mission of providing a space for Indigenous joy and art. Entry comes with free drinks provided by Amass Gin and Red Bull. DJ deesco will keep us dancing and Cinco Cazuelas will be on site for you to purchase food, so come hungry!

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

Blake Pickens

Blake Pickens is an Emmy Award winning Chickasaw comedian and filmmaker. He began his career writing satire for The National Lampoon, going on to write for the Rugrats reboot, Paw Patrol, and Rubble &Crew. He was a part of A Tribe Called Sketch, the first all Native American sketch show on a US Second City Stage, and can be seen performing stand up all over LA.

Dash Turner

Dash Turner is a comedian and writer. His TV writing credits include Solar Opposites (Hulu), Krapopolis (Fox), and Rutherford Falls (Peacock). He also served as a story consultant for Hot White Heist, from Audible and Broadway Video. Dash has been featured by Comedy Central, Vulture, and @TheGag. He was named one of IllumiNative's 25 Native American Comedians to Watch. He is a co-host of the Union Hall & Elysian show Thanks But No Thanksgiving. Dash is an enrolled member of the Yurok Tribe. He has been banned from Xbox Live over five (5) times, for a range of offenses.

Monique Moreau

Monique Moreau is an autistic, Native American (Cree/Saulteaux), stand-up comedian, writer, actress and musician based out of Los Angeles, CA. She’s performed stand-up and music throughout Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia. Monique has written professionally for children’s tv shows and web series including Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go, an All Engines Go web series and American Girl Doll. She has been named Comic of the Week by Jackie Kashian & Laurie Kilmartin, a top Native American comedian at the LA Times, one of ten Native American comics to watch by powwows.com, and a Native comic to watch by uproxx.com.

Jim Ruel

Jim Ruel is a comedian, writer, and actor. He is an Ojibwe Native American of the Bay Mills Indian Community. He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he spent the first ten years of his career performing in comedy clubs around the Midwest. He was a finalist in NBC’s Diversity Talent Search which led to his first television appearance on ‘The World Stands Up’ which was taped in London, England. He was also featured on ‘Goin Native: the American Indian Comedy Slam’ on Showtime. He works in film and media as the Intertribal Entertainment Production Coordinator for the Southern California Indian Center. Jim is host/writer of the Indiginerd Project video blog on Youtube.

Josh Pim

Josh is a hardworking comedian known for his sharp wit and infectious humor. With a knack for turning everyday moments into unforgettable laughs, he lights up every stage with energy and authenticity.

ARRIVAL

Arrival: The Chapter House is located on Glendale Blvd. Please enter through the green rolling gate on Branden St.

Parking: Free street parking is available on Branden St, Alvarado St, Aaron St, Clifford St, and other surrounding residential streets. Parking is also available on Glendale Blvd Monday through Friday, 8 am - 3 pm for 1 hour, and Saturdays and Sundays anytime.

Public Transportation: Glendale/Clifford is the closest N bound Metro stop which runs buses 92 and 603. Glendale/Branden is the closest S bound Metro stop which runs buses 92 and 603.

Restrooms: There are 3 restrooms at The Chapter House, one is ADA accessible.
