Clockshop’s quarterly Listening By Moonrise program, in collaboration with Earth Sessions, returns to LA State Historic Park, featuring performances and immersive sound experiences with leading multi-disciplinary sound artists. On the eve of the full moon (or as close to it), this program offers listeners moments of reflection, connection, and joy while experiencing music and sound collectively within the context of a community-centered green space.
This event is free and open to the public.

Earth Sessions is a music and environmental education event series that seeks to build community, celebrate the role of art in movements of change, and provide joyful + diverse climate justice education to new audiences. Curated in collaboration with Intersectional Environmentalist and The Eyes and Ears Agency, Clockshop invites Leah Thomas, Mandy Harris Williams, and Tonina for an afternoon of readings and music in honor of Black History Month.
Readings by:
Leah Thomas (she/her) is an environmentalist writer and creative based in Ventura, CA. She is the founder of eco-lifestyle blog Green Girl Leah and Intersectional Environmentalist, a community and resource hub centering BIPOC and historically excluded voices. Her book, The Intersectional Environmentalist, was released in March of 2022.
Mandy Harris Williams (she/her/they/them) is a multimedia artist, working in the literary/intellectual, visual, cinematic, performative and musical arts, originally hailing from New York City and now living in Los Angeles. She graduated from Harvard, having studied the History of the African Diaspora, as well as contemporary Black issues, including the mass incarceration crisis. She has shown work at the Moving Picture Biennial at the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève, MOCA Geffen Contemporary, and Paula Cooper Gallery, among many others. Williams received her MA in Urban Education and worked as a classroom teacher for 7 years in low income communities.
Music By:
Tonina is a Los Angeles-based vocalist, bassist and songwriter from St. Louis, Missouri who performs her original music along with her arrangements of covers in Spanish, English, and Italian. Raised in St. Louis by a family of musicians, Tonina learned various music styles ranging from Funk, Soul, and Jazz to Classical, Folk and Rock. Among her many accomplishments are: opening for Grammy-Award winning artist, Lalah Hathaway, in St. Louis; performing at the Catania Jazz Festival in Sicily; named as one of NPR’s favorite new artists and top 10 artists of 2018; and her interpretation of “Historia de un Amor” landing on former president Barack Obama’s top songs list of 2018. Tonina is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and is signed to record label Empire.

Clockshop is a Los Angeles-based arts and culture nonprofit. We produce free public programming and commissions contemporary artist projects on public land to better connect Angelenos to the land we live on.
Intersectional Environmentalist (501(c)3) is a climate justice community and resource hub centering people of color and historically excluded voices. We merge science, cultural wisdom, and creativity through curricula + interactive learning experiences to connect individuals with their local communities to root their environmental practice in equity and inclusion.
The Eyes & Ears Agency creates sustained positive change by building a bridge between the music industry and impactful nonprofit organizations. Their work leverages the cultural and personal power of music to increase collective awareness, shift behaviors, and spark activism within audiences in support of social and environmental causes.
