516 ARTS is teaming up with gallupARTS for our Indigenous Art Program to present a series of artist-led master classes for local artists and artisans to develop skills for professional and business opportunities. Topics include writing for artists, portfolio review, documentation, online presence, and entrepreneurship. Teachers include Faculty from the Institute of American Indian Arts and Heidi K. Brandow (Diné/Kanaka Maoli), among others. Workshops can be taken as a series or individually. All artists are welcome.

Writing for artists: Including help with writing your artist statement, bios, resume and more. Led by Brian Fleetwood
Brian Fleetwood is a jeweler, educator, curator, and writer based in Northern New Mexico. He served a six year apprenticeship with master Muscogee silversmith, Kenneth Johnson, holds an MFA in Craft and Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University and is a Windgate, Mildred’s Lane, and Doel Reed fellow. Brian has taught nationally and internationally at institutions such as the Oklahoma State University, the Center for Craft, Pratt Fine Arts Center, the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, the 19 th of May University, and is currently core faculty in Studio Arts at the Institute of American Indian Arts.
